Tesla Founder Warns of 'Demon' In Artificial Intelligence
The chief executive of Tesla recently warned students at MIT university to beware of developing artificial intelligence, as it can summon the devil.
While speaking at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Aeronautics and Astronautics department's Centennial Symposium recently, Tesla chief executive Elon Musk warned students about the dangerous power of artificial intelligence, saying "we are summoning the demon" in developing artificial intelligence.
Musk, who is also the founder of Space X, went on to say that he thinks artificial intelligence is the "biggest existential threat" to humanity, adding "I'm increasingly inclined to think that there should be some regulatory oversight, maybe at the national and international level, just to make sure that we don't do something very foolish."
"You know those stories where there's the guy with the pentagram, and the holy water, and he's like — Yeah, he's sure he can control the demon? Doesn't work out," Musk added.
As RT.com reports, the dangers and evil that could come with artificial intelligence have been played out in science fiction movies like The Terminator and the Matrix.
Musk is often described as being the real-life inspiration for Marvel's "Iron Man," played by actor Robert Downey Jr. The billionaire entrepreneur is expected to eventually make more money that Microsoft CEO Bill Gates.
Along with founding the popular electric car company Tesla, Musk has also founded Space X, a private space exploration company. He is also a high-profile investor in a company attempting to develop a computer that can think, see, move and speak like a human being.
