According to spoiler reports, the upcoming season will pick up from the last events that took place in the season 7 finale. Fans may recall that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) were stuck in an evil vault that no one knows how to open.

However, it will be opened when the series premieres its first episode of season 8, and Damon and Enzo will be out doing something evil as they will be controlled by the villain in the vault. But who is the evil mind controller? It is not explicitly revealed, but Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie, hinted to Entertainment Weekly that the new season villain is going to be a female.

Matt Davis also spilled to EW that the big bad is going to be someone who knows the dark secrets of the characters.

"What I like about this villain in particular is that everyone has a dark secret and there's something about this villain that knows what it is," stated Davis. "It can see the evil that you try to hide within yourself," he added.

Nothing is confirmed for now, but speculations suggest that the evil female villain is going to be the newly announced character, Sybil. As detailed in a report, Sybil will be played by actress Nathalie Kelley whose credits include "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" and "Urban Explorer."

Sybil has been revealed to be someone who is immortal and who has the capabilities to control and influence others. She could also have been the one who lured Damon deeper into the vault by using Elena's (Nina Dobrev) voice as a bait.

And speaking of Elena, fans are still crossing their fingers that Dobrev will return for the finale. She did make a promise to make a comeback, but until it is confirmed, fans will have to wait and see.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere on Oct. 21 on The CW.
