TobyMac speaks about DC Talk reunion, Jesus Freak Cruise 2017
TobyMac updates fans and social media followers on his former band DC Talk's reunion after the trio has formally announced that they have agreed to come together again in 2017 for Jesus Freak Cruise.
According to The Christian Post, Christian musician Toby McKeehan, now more known as TobyMac, talked during K-Love Fan Awards on Sunday, June 5 about his reunion with former trio bandmates Michael Tait and Kevin Max for Jesus Freak Cruise 2017 .
K-Love Fan Awards posted a SnapChat video where TobyMac was captured as saying, "The only thing we've done so far is we've said, yes."
The pop solo artist also revealed, "We texted each other, 'Would you do it?' 'Yeah' 'Would you do it?' 'Yeah.' OK, cool we going to do this!"
Since their hiatus in 2000, fans of DC Talk have been asking about the band getting together again.
The band finally released a statement in early May to announce their highly anticipated reunion.
They said, "This is a give back that we wanted to do — we wanted it to be intimate and special. More intimate than an arena tour could ever be. It embraces what we are doing and what we did. We are excited about both. Who knows what the future holds."
DC Talk is an acronym for "Decent Christian Talk." The band was formed in 1987 and has performed for more than three decades with breakthrough albums "Jesus Freak" in 1995 and "Supernatural" in 1998.
"Here was a band going mainstream without substituting their faith," said Kevin McNeese, founder of NewsReleaseTuesday and observer of Christian music, as reported by NewsRelease Today.
He added, "This band didn't soften (its message). As the years go on, DC Talk will be one of few bands from that time (in Christian music) that will be remembered."
McNeese also praised TobyMac's artistry, songwriting, and unwavering Christian faith. He claims that TobyMac is his five-year-old son's favorite artist.
