Trump Says 'Stranger Things Have Happened' Than Presidential Ticket With Carson
2016 presidential hopeful Donald Trump said in a recent interview that he wouldn't completely rule out the idea of having retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson as a running mate if he were to win the GOP presidential nomination.
Although Trump and Carson have exchanged words regarding their faith and leadership skills in the past, Trump said in a recent interview with CNN that he and Carson are evidently appealing to a large amount of Americans, given recent presidential polls that put them at the front of the race compared to their competitors.
The recent CNN poll put Trump and Carson at the top of the race with 27 percent and 22 percent approval ratings.
"Well I like him, he likes me. I mean, stranger things have happened," Trump recently said on CNN's "New Day" this week. "But it's too early to think about."
"Well, we've hit a chord. And we're not as different as people think," Trump continued. "You know we have a very good relationship. [...] But there is certainly a different style. You know, I have great assets and he has some great assets. But we are both resonating, there's no question about it."
Trump previously received criticism for stating that in comparison to his profession as a real estate mogul, Carson would not make a good "jobs" president because he worked as a neurosurgeon.
"He's really a friend of mine, I just think it's a very difficult situation that he puts himself into, to have a doctor who wasn't creating jobs and would have a nurse or maybe two nurses. It's such a different world. I've created tens of thousands of jobs over the years," Trump previously said in an interview with The Daily Caller.
