'Wentworth' season 4 spoilers, plot news: Vera clashes with newcomer officer Jake in episode 4 'Love and Hate'

A new officer reports for duty at the Wentworth Correctional Center in another exciting installment of "Wentworth" season 4 and Vera (Kate Atkinson) will be surprised how self-assured this newcomer is.

In episode 5 titled "Love and Hate," Bernard Curry debuts as corrections officer Jake Stewart, who is a bit too bright and breezy for Vera, leading her to question his intentions.

"She's trying to make sense of him. He's cheeky and forthright, and no one knows if he has a power agenda," Atkinson said in a magazine can from Tumblr of the "Wentworth" season 4 newbie.

Jake and Vera will definitely clash because they have very different approach when it comes to running the prison. The latter has always gone the strict route, but the former likes it casual.

What draws the line for Vera in "Wentworth" season 4 episode 5 is that the new guy comes in and throws around different ideas on how to handle the inmates and manage the facility.

Vera will immediately get the impression that Jake wants to replace her as the deputy governor of the prison. Hopefully, Curry's debut in "Wentworth" season 4 will reveal if Vera is right or not.

Jake's joviality also catches the attention of some of his co-workers apart from Vera. His smiles and laughs will be understood as a fake veneer to cover his supposed hidden agenda.

There's a lot to learn about Jake in "Wentworth" season 4. He will be a recurring character this season, but it is still unknown what he hides between his bright smiles, if there is any.

Apart from Curry, another newcomer in "Wentworth" season 4 is Kate Jenkinson, who will play the role of an inmate named Allie Novak and will debut in episode 8.

Jake's arrival takes place in "Wentworth" season 4 episode 5 "Love and Hate," which will air tonight at 8:30 p.m. EDT on Foxtel.
