Who does Donald Trump say Jesus is?

Business tycoon Donald Trump has continued to be a divisive figure in the race for the White House this year, and recently he has shared more personal information about himself,  including his plans, as well as a brief description of who he says Jesus is.

In an interview with author and columnist Cal Thomas, Trump was asked who he is at the core. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee described his background in a very positive light, calling his parents and family wonderful and his education at Wharton School and other places great. He also said that while his father did not want him to go to Manhattan, he did anyway and achieved many things, including publishing books and having the show "The Apprentice."

In speaking of education, he said, "Education is very important. I think I understand education. I think I can straighten out our mess in education. And I'm a person who has, to a certain extent, redefined where I should be."

He also said he wants to remove the Common Core curriculum, and that he likes the concept of local education. For him, choice in school is both necessary and competitive.

Thomas mentioned that President Barack Obama said that "America is not execptional," and asked Trump what about America he would preserve, protect, and defend during his oath of office should he become president. The 69-year-old businessman said that Obama is "an unbelievable divider of this country" and "a very negative force."

"America has great potential, but we're not using it. ... And the people are phenomenal," he said. "You know my theme is 'Make America Great Again' and I think it can be greater than ever before."

Trump further said that the people are "hungry for real change; they're hungry for making things right." For him, in order to make America great again is to put America first, and America has to become rich again before it can be great again. When the country is rich, then Social Security can be left alone, but fraud, waste, and abuse needs to be stopped.

If he gets elected, the first thing he would do is get rid of many executive orders. His priorities are having borders, building up the military, and repealing and replacing Obamacare.

When the conversation went to the subject of God, Thomas mentioned Trump saying that he "never felt the need to ask for God's forgiveness" and asked the question, in the way Jesus asked the apostle Peter, "Who do you say He is?"

"I will be asking for forgiveness, but hopefully I won't have to be asking for much forgiveness," Trump replied. "As you know, I am Presbyterian and Protestant. ... I'm going to treat my religion, which is Christian, with great respect and care."

In answer to who he says Jesus is, Trump explained: "Jesus to me is somebody I can think about for security and confidence. Somebody I can revere in terms of bravery and in terms of courage and, because I consider the Christian religion so important, somebody I can totally rely on in my own mind."
