Xperia Z3 vs iPhone 6 Plus Specs, Price Review: Features Comparison - Big Fight Between Top Phablet Devices

Apple has been able to capture a huge slice of the market for phablets since it launched the iPhone 6 Plus in September last year. But there are other premium smartphones and phablets, including the Sony Xperia Z3, that provide it with stiff competition.

Design

The Xperia Z3 has a premium look and feel to it thanks to it metal frame and band running along its edge. Added to this premium look are the glass on its front and back, and its rounded edges. As for the iPhone 6 Plus, it has a great looking aluminum unibody and comes with chamfered edges and a smooth finish on its back panel. A major plus point for the Xperia Z3 is that it is waterproof unlike its competitor.

Display

Apple opted to give the iPhone 6 Plus a huge 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch. As for the Xperia Z3, it has a smaller IPS LCD screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 424 pixels per inch.

Specs

Comparing specs, the Xperia Z3 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801chipset, coupled with a quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU, while the iPhone 6 Plus has the Apple A8 chipset, coupled with a dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone CPU and PowerVR GX6450 GPU.

Memory

The iPhone 6 Plus, much like other devices from Apple, does not have a memory slot while the Xperia Z3 has one that can be used to add external storage of up to 128 GB. As for RAM, the iPhone 6 Plus has 1 GB while the Xperia Z3 has 3 GB worth.

Camera

Devices from Sony usually have top-notch cameras and the Xperia Z3 does not disappoint with its 20.7 megapixel rear shooter. On the other hand, the iPhone 6 Plus has a 8 megapixel version with optical image stabilization.

Price

The 16 GB version of the iPhone 6 Plus is priced at $299 with a two-year contract while the Xperia Z3's full retail price is $630.
