Just days after unveiling the 2018 Mustang, Ford Motors has introduced a convertible version of the American automaker's most iconic and best-selling pony car. For the new model year, the Mustang receives significant improvements across all components that will surely please car enthusiasts.

The 2018 Ford Mustang, both as a coupe and a convertible, benefits from a sleeker design language. It features a more athletic stance with its redesigned front fascia. Specifically, the hood has been lowered, hood vents have been repositioned, the grilles have been redesigned, and there are smaller LED lighting fixtures. Then, at the rear, there is also a new bumper as well as LED taillamps. Overall, the Mustang has been given a leaner and meaner appearance.

Inside, the cabin receives its own improvements. The center console receives a hand-stitched wrap with contrast stitching and padded knee bolsters, and the surfaces also feature an aluminum finish. An optional heated steering wheel is also available.

To continue delivering the iconic performance and driving experience that the Mustang is known for, Ford has given the new models more powerful engines, with both the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine and the 5.0-liter V8 powertrain receiving enhancements. The engine can be mated to the all-new 10-speed automatic transmission but the standard manual gearbox is also impressive with a twin-clutch and dual-mass flywheel.

Some of the new features include shock absorbers for better ride control, a cross-axis joint in the rear suspension for increased stiffness and stabilizer bars for sharper handling. Optional components include new MagneRide suspension technology for better handling and an active valve exhaust system for enhanced sound.

In terms of technologies, the 2018 Ford Mustang is now available with a 12-inch all-digital LCD instrument cluster that features three modes: normal, sport and track. The MyMode memory function also keeps track of the driver's preferences. Driver-assist technologies include Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Distance Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist and Driver Alert System. Also available is the Ford SYNC Connect infotainment system with FordPass.

For consumers who want to add a more personal touch, there are also different customizable options available such as three new paint colors, 12 wheel designs and new patterns and colors for the interior.

The 2018 Ford Mustang and the 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible will go on sale in the fall. Pricing and more technical specifications will be revealed at a later date.
