'24: Legacy' spoilers: new trailer released by FOX
FOX released a fresh new teaser for "24: Legacy" during the network's Television Critics Association press tour.
The new trailer featured the journey of military hero Eric Carter (Corey Hawkins), who returns to the United States after leading a successful mission to eradicate terrorist leader Sheik Ibrahim Bin-Khalid. But upon his return, he received a call from his squad mates while they were attacked by Bin-Khalid's men to avenge their leader's death.
This prompted Carter to seek help from the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) to help save his life and to assist him in preventing the biggest terror attacks in the country.
The trailer also revealed that former CTU analyst Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) will return in the spinoff of the original "24" series led by Kiefer Sutherland's character, Jack Bauer.
Series creators Manny Coto and Evan Katz explained why Tony will be back in the upcoming reboot during the Television Critics Association press tour this week. According to Coto, they love both the actor and the character. "It felt right that he was the one person who comes back," the series co-creator stated during the press panel as reported by TV Series Finale.
Katz, on the other hand, explained why Tony was the only one from the original series to come back in the upcoming spinoff. "We're very carefully making sure that people do not have to see the original series. There may be an Edgar Easter egg here and there, but we were most concerned with making this its own thing," he said.
The series will also star Miranda Otto as the former CTU head Rebecca Ingram, Jimmy Smits as Rebecca's husband and US presidential aspirant John Donovan, Teddy Sears as the new and ambitious head of CTU Keith Mullins, and Anna Diop as Eric's wife Nicole.
"24: Legacy" is slated to premiere for a special episode on FOX after the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 5, then its regular run will start on Monday, Feb. 6.
