'50 Shades of Grey' Release Date: From Fan Fiction to Global Phenomenon to Much Anticipated Movie
As anyone who has come across -- or at least heard of -- "50 Shades of Grey," the self-published e-book that has become a global phenomenon is having a movie adaptation that will be released on Feb. 13, 2015.
The e-book -- which started out as "Twilight" fan fiction by author E.L. James and was packaged as a trilogy (with Book 2 titled as "Fifty Shades Darker" and Book 3 as "Fifty Shades Freed") -- has gained so many eager fans that when a movie deal came, it was really not a surprise anymore.
Now that trailers for the movie adaptation have been released, the interest of fans has built up some more. There have been varying reactions, particularly on the second trailer.
Public feedback has been both positive and negative regarding how the second trailer looks like because it supposedly comes across more as a sneak peek at a romance-comedy a film, rather than a preview of the adaptation of a novel that is known far and wide for strongly pushing boundaries about intimate bedroom practices.
Just the same, whether or not the second trailer has been made for the purpose of toning down the steamy image of the novels in order to get the interest of a wider viewership, or it is simply a tease for what really takes place within the movie, the public's curiosity hasn't been lessened one bit.
That's probably due to the fact that the lead characters -- Christian Grey (Jamie Dorman) and Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) -- are being played by actors who still need to prove their capacity to convincingly portray people with complex personalities. Whether or not actors Dorman and Johnson will rise to the challenge still remains to be seen, and that's one of the things the public is waiting for.
