Paramount TV and Netflix have jointly announced their plan to collaborate for a TV series based on the Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events," a popular children's book series.

The book series is about three orphans -- Klaus, Violet and Sunny Bauderlaire -- who, after the untimely death of their parents who left them a fortune, are constantly chased after by their uncle.

The book series has sold 65 million copies all over the world. It has been used as an inspiration theme for video games, card games, board games, films and albums. Because of the worldwide demand, all 13 books have been translated into 43 languages.

Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content for Netflix, said in their "search for fantastic material that appeals to both parents and kids, the first stop for generations of readers is 'A Series of Unfortunate Events.'"

She added that the world of Lemony Snicket is "unique, darkly funny and relatable."

In 2004, Paramount produced a film titled "A Series of Unfortunate Events," which was an adaptation of the Lemony Snicket books. It starred Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep and Jude Law. It wasn't quite a success.

A few details about the show have emerged online, including the elements where the show will draw from. As for the characters, there is no news as to the team of actors and actresses who are to appear in the TV series as of yet.
