Acura RLX Sport Hybrid 2017 release date, price & specs news: 377 horsepower sedan arrives
The 2017 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid is now available at Acura dealerships. The premium mid-size sedan comes with the most advanced technologies to ensure a simpler and more comfortable driving experience.
The five-passenger vehicle is powered by a 3.5-liter 24-valve SOHC i-VTEC V-6 engine that is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and delivers 310 horsepower.
Combined with the three electric motors, the new Acura RLX Sport Hybrid generates 377 horsepower and 377 pound-feet of torque. It also has a Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system (SH-AWD). Overall, the sedan produces V8-like performance but with four-cylinder-like fuel efficiency.
To further improve its efficiency, the 2017 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid also comes with Variable Cylinder Management and an automatic idle-stop system. This translates to a top-class EPA rating of 29 mpg for city driving, 30 mpg for highway driving and 29 mpg for combined driving.
Acura's flagship hybrid sedan comes in two grades: the RLX Sport Hybrid with Technology Package or the top-of-the-line RLX Sport Hybrid with Advance Package.
Some of the standard technologies include Jewel Eye LED headlights, 19-inch bright-finished wheels, the next-generation AcuraLink connected car system, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow.
There are also several intuitive technologies to ensure a more seamless and comfortable driving experience. Some of the features include Electronic Parking Brake, a capless refueling system, Smart Entry and Smart Start keyless entry, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Furthermore, the AcuraWatch suite of driver-assistive technologies makes available the following: Collision Mitigation Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Information, and Road Departure Mitigation. The sedans are also equipped with seven air bags and an advanced body structure.
According to the press release, the hybrid sedan has attained a five-star New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) overall vehicle safety rating and a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The 2017 Acura RLX has a starting price of $59,950. There will also be an additional $920 destination charge.
