'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 4 episode 7 spoilers: MCU faces a god-like villain as Coulson clashes with new S.H.I.E.L.D. director

The origin story of Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna) has been revealed. How will this affect his alter ego Robbie Reyes’ relationship with his brother? | Facebook/AgentsofShield

After dishing out one big revelation after the other, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will be taking a brief hiatus without leaving much of a hint as to what happens next. The previous episode, "The Good Samaritan," has left fans enough unanswered questions to ponder on until ABC's Marvel-based series returns in four weeks.

To start with, the relationship between brothers Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) and Gabe Reyes (Lorenzo James Henrie) is now at risk of unraveling in a potentially irreparable way after the former revealed the deal he made with the devil to spare his brother's life. Gabe was receptive to the idea of his brother being a secret agent, but when he found out the true reason behind Robbie's frequent nightly tryst, on top of seeing his older brother's Ghost Rider form in berserk mode, Gabe didn't seem too taken by it.

Will Robbie still be able to fix things with his brother? Will Gabe eventually learn to accept his brother for what he has now become? And will Gabe play a role in helping Robbie take full control of his Ghost Rider form?

Perhaps the biggest revelation of the episode was Eli Morrow's (José Zúñiga) surprisingly villainous side. Now that he has successfully the powers of the Darkhold and has seemingly turned himself into a god who is able to create anything out of thin air, he will be posing one of the biggest threats to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), more specifically to Phil Coulson's (Clark Gregg) team.

And speaking of Coulson, what has become of him, his fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Leo Fitz (Iain de Caestecker), and Robbie, who were all caught in the blast of white energy that went throughout the Momentun Lab when Eli activated the machine that was designed to give him god-like powers over matter. Could the blast have affected all three of them in some way?

The next episodes of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." are also expected to pick up on the standoff between the new S.H.I.E.L.D. director Jeffrey Mace (Jason O'Mara) and Coulson, who has gradually been proving himself quite the rebel as he does his things without consulting the director first. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actor Luna hinted on more future confrontations between Mace and Coulson regarding the latter's unorthodox ways.

"He's shooting from the hip with a lot of these moves he's making," Luna said, referring to Coulson, "and I'm sure that's going to rub the director the wrong way."

There is also the question of where exactly Mace has sent S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and what alleged mission she is supposed to deal with.

One good thing that came out of this week's episode is that the Darkhold is now in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s possession, but how long can they hold on to it before someone else gets lured into harnessing its immense powers?

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" returns with answers to these questions on Sunday, Nov. 29, at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
