'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 4B spoilers: May continues to hide her secret from Coulson; Daisy to become the new director?
Daisy (Chloe Bennet) might finally be able to fulfill her comic book destiny when "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns for the back half of season 4 next year.
For the uninitiated, Daisy became the team's director in the comic series, making fans wonder if the ABC program will also follow her original storyline. Executive Jed Whedon recently caught up with Entertainment Weekly, and he teased that the character could certainly fulfill her comic book destiny. However, she must get comfortable being in the limelight first after accidentally making her true identity known to the public.
"We've hinted at it a bit, that Coulson thinks she can play more of a leadership role," Whedon told the publication's Spoiler Room segment. "We'll see how it goes, and where the story takes her. She's been through a lot so that usually turns someone from a rookie into a seasoned veteran, which is what you need to lead. We'll see if she steps up to the plate," he added.
The series is currently on a winter break, and it is set to return with all-new episodes starting next year. "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." picks up with episode 9 titled "Broken Promises," and it will explore how the dynamic between the team members will begin to change. According to the official synopsis, May (Ming-Na Wen) continues to hide her dark secret, and Coulson (Clark Gregg) remains unaware of it even as the two characters grow closer to each other. Meanwhile, Aida (Mallory Jansen) will stop at nothing as she tries to find the Darkhold.
While awaiting the return of the hit superhero drama, fans can watch a six-part digital spinoff series titled "Slingshot," which explores a storyline that happens before season 4 of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." begins. It centers on Elena Rodriguez, an Inhuman with an extraordinary ability to move fast.
The fourth season of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns to the small screen on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
