The Air Jordans were originally released as Nike basketball shoes, riding on the star power of Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls.

But the shoe has gained so much popularity that it became more than a basketball shoe named after a basketball megastar. Through the years, it has amassed a loyal following and continues to draw in new fans. The new releases of designs, as well as the "retroing" of classic colors from the AJ numbered series, have all been successful, according to Nike officials.

In January 2015, the Air Jordan 4 – Columbia (2015) and Air Jordan 7 – French Blue (2015) were released.

Last Feb. 7, the Air Jordan 1 – Laser was released. On Valentine's Day, the following were released: Air Jordan 10 – Bulls Over Broadway, Air Jordan 10 – Lady Liberty, Air Jordan 1 Low OG – Bred, Air Jordan 4 – Laser (2015). Last Feb. 16, Air Jordan 20 – Laser was released, and last Feb. 21, Air Jordan Dub Zero – Classic Charcoal and Air Jordan 4 – Oreo (2015) were released.

On Feb 28, Air Jordan 1 Low OG – White and Air Jordan Dub Zero – Laser are set for release.

03/14/2015 - Air Jordan 4 – Teal

03/14/2015 - Air Jordan 20 – Stealth (2015)

Fast-forward to Holiday 2015 and there are rumors that the Air Jordan 8 will make a comeback. Three variants have been confirmed – the Air Jordan 8 Aqua, the retro+ Air Jordan 8 "Black/Chrome" and the brand-new Air Jordan 8 "Three Time's a Charm," which pays homage to Jordan's third straight championship win over the Phoenix Suns in 1993. The colors used on the midsole represent the three teams that the Bulls beat – yellow for the Lakers, red for the Blazers and purple for the Suns. No firm release date has been announced.
