Alcatel OneTouch Watch vs Apple Watch Specs Review: Features and Price Comparison - Budget Device Is No Pushover
Alcatel released its OneTouch Watch at the beginning of this year and it recently became available for pre-order. Compared to the costlier Apple Watch, the Alcatel device still manages to hold its own.
Design
In terms of design, the OneTouch Watch looks and feels like any other ordinary watch. Its circular body is crafted from stainless steel and chrome. As for its straps, it comes with four options: a dark red and black plastic strap, a white plastic strap, a dark grey chrome strap and a white metal strap.
The Apple Watch has a rectangular watch face made from either steel, anodized aluminum or solid gold. It comes in two sizes. It is also available in three collection lines: the basic Apple Watch Sport, the mid-priced Apple Watch and the top-tier Apple Watch Edition.
As for the straps on it, a number of options are available ranging from fluoroelastomer to steel and leather.
Comparing the two devices' water and dust resistance capabilities, the Apple Watch is splash and dust resistant but cannot be submerged in water while the OneTouch Watch has a IP67 water resistant rating, which means it can safely be immersed up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.
Display
The OneTouch watch has an IPS screen measuring 1.22 inches with a resolution of 240 x 204 pixels and an oleophobic coating. As for the Apple Watch, its smaller version has a 1.32-inch screen with a resolution of 272 x 340 pixels, while its bigger version has a 1.5-inch screen with a resolution 312 x 390 pixels.
Depending on the model, the screen of the Apple Watch features either a toughened Ion-X glass or sapphire crystal.
Specs
The Apple Watch features its homegrown S1chip, which is actually a system in package and contains an entire computer. As for the OneTouch Watch, it has a STM429 chipset.
Sensors
On the Apple Watch are a heart rate sensor, accelerometer and gyroscope. The OneTouch Watch comes with an accelerometer, gyroscope, altimeter, heart rate sensor and E Compass. Both watches will support NFC payments. While the Apple Watch can only paired with iOS devices, the OneTouch Watch can be paired with both Android and iOS devices.
Price
The most inexpensive Apple Watch is priced at $350 while its costliest gold-bodied edition is priced between $10,000 and $17,000. As for the Alcatel OneTouch Watch, it is priced at $150.
