AMD Radeon RX 570 news: Next-generation graphics card spotted at CES 2017; Radeon RX 500 series to arrive this year?
AMD has yet to officially launch its Radeon RX 500 series graphics cards, but some of the GPUs have already made their way to upcoming notebooks. The Radeon RX 570 was recently spotted during CES 2017, and it will be a part of Samsung's new Odyssey notebook series.
According to a Reddit user who spotted the Odyssey's specs, Radeon 570 was indicated in the notebook's graphics specification section. Under "Graphics," the notebook's features listed that it will have 4 GB or 8 GB of memory. Samsung's new line of notebooks will reportedly have a seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processor, along with a 6 4GB DDR4 memory. The photo provided by the source also reveals that Odyssey will sport a 17.3-inch full HD display screen.
The leak is currently tagged as a "rumor" by Reddit, but the user clarified that the information is indeed true — even pointing out that a Samsung representative at the event said there wasn't a typo in the listing. "I did ask if this was a typo, and the Samsung rep said it is NOT a typo. Didn't get any additional details on it," the user posted in the caption, along with an update that reads: "The card IS an OEM version of the 470. I asked an AMD rep at their booth about it. The 500 series is an OEM rebadge of the 400 series, like how the 8000 series was to the 7000 series."
This is not the first time that a Radeon RX 500 GPU was revealed by one of AMD's partners. In an advertisement from Lenovo, the AMD RX 560M was spotted after Lenovo unknowingly leaked the yet to be launched graphics card. Similar to how Samsung made the reveal, Lenovo's Y520 graphics card section indicated RX 560M as its next-gen GPU. Lenovo's advertisement led tech-savvy consumers to believe that the AMD Radeon RX 500 lineup will indeed come this year.
