AMD Zen release date, news and updates: AMD's upcoming CPU surpasses Intel's popularity online
The popularity of AMD's Zen central processing unit (CPU) architecture is gaining popularity over its competition, based on the Google searches.
According to the Google Trends data gathered by TweakTown, AMD Zen managed to surpass Intel Kaby Lake's popularity online based on the number of searches over the past months. It even peaked at 74 during the third week of August.
The report credited AMD's marketing strategy for its Zen CPU, which is now called AMD Ryzen, for the spike in the upcoming CPU's popularity.
Meanwhile, recent reports reveal that the Ryzen could come out during Q1 2017 after the company finally revealed several information regarding the chip that was based on Ryzen cores.
Based on the information provided by ArsTechnica, the first Ryzen-based chip will be included in the Summit Ridge high-end desktop chips product line. It will reportedly come out with an eight-core 16-thread CPU, as well as a base clock of 3.4GHz.
The upcoming AMD Ryzen is also expected to feature Turbo Boost, TPD and Turbo Boost Max specs as reported by Yibada. But the company has yet to confirm if the said specs will come out in the upcoming processor from the Sunnyvale, CA-based semiconductor firm.
The pricing for the AMD Ryzen is also reportedly more pocket-friendly compared with Intel's product. This means that it could be more affordable compared with the Intel Core i7 6900K, which is reportedly being sold on the market for $1,050.
AMD's CEO Lisa Su revealed that the company painstakingly developed its latest line of Ryzen CPUs based on the demands of the market. "The 'Zen' core at the heart of our Ryzen processors is the result of focused execution and thousands of engineering hours designing and delivering a next-level experience for high-end PC and workstation users," Su said in a statement as reported by The Inquirer.
AMD is expected to reveal more details about their upcoming CPU in the coming days.
