'American Crime' season 3 spoilers, cast: Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton returning
John Ridley's "American Crime" season 3 will return with Regina King, as earlier announced, as well as find Felicity Huffman taking on a new role after she played Barbara Hanlon in the first season and Leslie Graham in the second. The two actresses were the very first of the cast to be confirmed for the show's upcoming run.
On the other hand, it is yet to be confirmed whether Timothy Hutton is also coming back, but the expectation is for him to return to play a new role on the show.
Huffman took to Twitter to share the good news.
"So happy to be a part of #AmericanCrime Season 3! Wonder what my character will be ... any guesses?" she wrote.
Only a little is known about the next installment of "American Crime." Even Huffman herself has no idea what she will be playing this time around, as she followed up on her first tweet.
"Can't wait to find out what John Ridley has in-store for us! #American Crime"
The series creator had nothing but praise for the cast of the show. In an interview with The Wrap, Ridley said: "I had the idea of taking a big chunk of the storytelling, very mature storytelling, and putting it on young people. And then I lined them up opposite some of the best talent around — Oscar winners, Emmy winners, Grammy winners, Tony nominees."
He admitted that it may have been a lot to put on the young cast members but he also had faith in their abilities. Ridley went on to say that the show's cast all gave their very best performances. With the critical acclaim and fan support the show got, it is easy to see this much is true of the performances.
"American Crime" season 3 is scheduled for a 2017 premiere. With a North Carolina setting, the new season will deal with such issues as individual rights, labor problems, as well as economic divides.
