'American Crime' season 3 spoilers, plot news: Timothy Hutton confirmed to return
The critically acclaimed crime anthology series, "American Crime," will once again welcome the veteran actor Timothy Hutton back to its fold for the upcoming third installment of the show. He will be joining his co-stars Felicity Huffman, Regina King, and Richard Cabral who, like him, have also been with the show for both seasons 1 and 2.
Speaking for himself as well as the show's creator, John Ridley, the executive producer of the show, Michael McDonald, told Variety, "John and I are thrilled to have Tim return to season 3. We believe that Tim's undeniable talent will be showcased in a role unlike anything we have ever seen from Tim."
Hutton's new role will be one that will take a "darker twisted turn," according to McDonald. The eager followers of the show will be surprised by the actor's portrayal of a rich man who wrestles with trying to hold on to his family and wealth.
All the returning cast members confirmed so far will be taking on all-new roles as well in the next run of the series. However, details regarding their roles as well as the storyline have not been shared as yet.
Hutton, who is a Golden Globe awardee, received an Emmy nomination as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Mini-Series for the first season of "American Crime." This year, Emmy nominations came in for the series in the category of Outstanding Limited Series and for the three cast members from season 2 – Lili Taylor, King, and Huffman – in the acting category.
As earlier reported, the setting for "American Crime" season 3 is North Carolina. Although not much has been revealed regarding the show's next plot, reports say that it will tackle such issues as individual rights, labor, as well as economic gaps.
Right now it seems that the "American Crime" producers are keeping a tight grip on the details of the show's third installment.
The premiere date for "American Crime" season 3 is yet to be disclosed, but it is expected that it will air on its customary midseason schedule.
