American Horror Story Season 4 Spoilers: Freak Show Is Living Up to Its Name
"Freak Show," the title of Season 4 of "American Horror Story," appears to be truly living up to its name, even at this early stage.
Those with Coulrophobia (fear of clowns) are advised to get someone who is fearless and dependable to watch Season 4 with because Twisty the (Killer) Clown is about to spring on viewers once more in episode 2, following a fittingly creepy entrance in the premiere telecast.
In episode 2 ("Massacres and Matinees") maternal love is twisted to extreme levels as a mother tries her best to please her sulky son whose main goal in life is to become part of a freak show.
Unfortunately, the freaks have discriminating tastes and rejected the son whose ambitions then began running wild.
So, what's a good mother to do? Why, hire a homicidal clown, of course!
TV Guide wrote, "The overgrown petulant child runs away from home to join the freak show. But when even the freaks are, like, um, no thanks, his mother (Frances Conroy) brings the freak show to him -- by hiring Twisty the Clown! We won't go as far as to say that the two get along, but nobody dies. So that's something."
The logic behind this decision is that if Dandy, the son, can't be part of the creepiness, then Twisty the Clown, the Creep of All Creeps, will be part of Dandy's life.
The prospect of fatal mayhem, plus blood and gore, seem to be a given in such a situation. But are they, really?
Well, yes and no.
Okay, murderous Twisty doesn't annihilate Dandy. But it's not really a mystery why, because it turns out that Dandy is just as perverse as Twisty—maybe even more.
Still, it's not fair to give everything away, so just think of these while waiting for episode 2: Two extremely terrified hostages, and the lower half of a face rotting to a stomach-churning degree. Guess whose jaw looks like it escaped from hell?
Don't say we didn't warn you.
