Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update for Nexus 7 Finally Here

The long wait is finally over. The Over-The-Air Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS update for Nexus 7 2013 LTE-version has arrived to bring relief to many Nexus 7 2013 LTE users who had long been wondering why the bug-fixing update still had not been made available for their device.

The Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS update is reputed to resolve a wide range of bug and security issues found in the 4.4.3 version of the Nexus 7's Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS.

The software update, Nexus insiders say, will upgrade the device not only to fix bugs but to "improve performance, security, and stability" as well.

Although the update is officially out, some Nexus 7 users may still have to wait awhile for it to arrive on their device. They can only download the update once the Over-The-Air update notification is sent to their tablet.

At present, the update is not yet available OTA but can be taken for manual installation. Users who know how to manually install software updates can find the factory images as well as the binaries for this new Nexus 7 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on Google's website.

For the less tech-savvy users who are not familiar with the manual install process, it is best to wait for the arrival of the OTA version of the update. There is no need to worry since the roll out of the update does not take place all at once. Some users may receive the notification earlier than others.

So far, Google has not released any information yet on an OTA update. However, insiders say it will become available soon enough.

One probable reason for the delay is Google's well-known practice of slow roll outs. Google deliberately does this to be able to catch unexpected bugs and issues that may emerge from the initial roll out of the update. The company only gives the go-signal for the update's full roll out once it is satisfied that all major issues have been fully resolved.

Another reason is that slow roll outs prevent Google's servers from overloading, which may slow down the operation of the company's servers.

Users must ensure that they have at least 285 MB of free space in their device for the Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS update download.

Also, when installing the software, they must ensure that their device has enough battery and has a strong Internet connection to prevent a cutoff in the transmission. For added security, users are advised to back up their files and data before downloading the update.

The Android 4.4.4 KitKat update arrives just weeks before the expected release of Google's Android L for Nexus devices and other Android-compatible devices from select manufacturers.

The Android L, which will replace the Android 4.4 KitKat before the year is over, is expected to arrive either in late October or November together with a Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 tablet from HTC.

Insiders say these two devices will arrive within the next few weeks, implying that older Nexus devices like the Nexus 7 LTE will be the first to receive the Android L update.
