Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OTA Update on Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge; T-Mobile Receive First
Although the official release date of the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge is still set for April 10, T-Mobile has already beaten other carriers to the market as it has started delivering the latest Samsung devices to its customers. T-Mobile even offered a year's free subscription to Netflix for its customers for a limited period as part of its pre-order promo.
Customers who paid for the next day delivery and ordered their devices on March 27 were the first to receive the devices on Saturday, March 28. The lucky few who received the devices from T-Mobile lost no time and posted photos of them online. Under the pre-order promo, customers who had pre-ordered either the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge already started receiving their devices. Many more customers will receive their units this week if they have opted for the next day shipping option.
Customers who were the first to receive the latest smartphone from Samsung were even treated to an Android 5.0.2 over-the-air update. The update was first reported on Sunday.
TechnoBuffalo said the updates are quite big, coming in at 178.67MB for each of the new flagship smartphones and can be downloaded via a Wi-Fi connection. The specific build number for the update on the Galaxy S6 is G920TUVU1AOCG while the edge version's build number is G925TUVU1AOCG.
The OTA update rectified a number of glitches and improved other areas on the phones. Among the improvements were those on the fingerprint scanner and audio quality. As for the fixes, they address the "failed to rebook" error message, clock drift and a calendar event problem.
