'Annabelle 2' release date, spoilers: Creepy Annabelle doll blessed by a priest

Little is known about the upcoming sequel for the supernatural horror film "Annabelle." Rumor has it that the doll is so creepy that the production team had it blessed by a priest. 

Although the studio didn't reveal any significant details about the film sequel, rumors have been put to rest when Warner Brothers Pictures released an announcement trailer for "Annabelle 2" in September. "Annabelle 2" is expected to be just as scary or even scarier than its predecessor. The trailer launched by Warner Bros. gave off an eerie vibe.

According to reports, the sequel will actually be more of a prequel, since it will delve into the origins of the evil doll. "Annabelle 2" will be set before the events in the first film. The synopsis for the upcoming film revealed that Annabelle was created by a doll maker for his daughter. She, however, met an untimely and tragic death. The doll later on found its way to a shelter for several young girls. Twenty years after its creation, the possessed doll started taking over the children and it was there that Annabelle first wreaked havoc.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, costume designer Leah Butler told the publication that the production this time around was in a completely different scale. The doll looked terrifying that an actress suggested to have it blessed by a priest. According to Butler, they did it as a precautionary measure.

In other news, it appears that Annabelle's character had everyone's imagination going. This also includes Don Mancini, creator of the franchise "Child's Play" where the infamous Chucky starred in.

If the doll alone isn't enough to get horror buffs petrified, Mancini is convinced that an Annabelle and Chucky team-up should happen. If it's impossible, then a cameo might be enough.

Mancini told USA Today in an interview, "We would be into it, the only problem is that we are in different studios. That would probably be years worth of red tape to work it out. But if it all could be worked out, then yes, we're very into it," Mancini explained.

"Annabelle 2" is expected to hit heaters on May 19, 2017.
