Apple iPad Mini 5 release date, specs rumors 2016: New tablet expected to come out before year end

While many tech fans are focusing on the release of the next generation Apple iPhone smartphone, some people are actually excited for the upcoming iPad Mini 5. According to reports, the Cupertino-based company is making major changes to its design and specs under the hood. There are speculations suggesting that the new tablet will be launched alongside the iPhone 7 next month.

Although Apple has yet to confirm the release of its latest flagship smartphone, reports have been circulating that the company will hold an iPhone 7 event on Sept. 7. It is speculated that the iPad Mini 5 will be revealed at the event with its new name, iPad Pro Mini.

According to a report by iTechPost, the new iPad Mini 5 or the iPad Pro Mini might come out smaller than its predecessors. Although the publication believes that the device will sport several similarities with the previous model, major changes of its design will be noticeable. The new Apple tablet will be carrying amazing features such as 3D Touch Display and a Waterproofing technology. Although the company has yet to release the official details of its specs, reports have emerged that the device will run on the A9X processor paired with different storage options.

However, the publication contradicts the previous reports that Apple will launch the iPad Mini 5 alongside the iPhone 7. According to them, fans may have to wait for a month or two before the device gets unveiled. Apparently, Apple will focus more on the new iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro 2016 during the rumored Sept. 7 company event.

Meanwhile, according to PC Adviser, the iPad Mini 5 will come out as the first Apple tablet with water and dust protection. It is said to have been certified to an IP68 Rating just like Samsung's Galaxy S7 and its latest release, the Galaxy Note 7.

As of the moment, Apple fans are still waiting for the company to make an official statement with regard to the release of iPad Mini 5.
