Apple iWatch Release Date, News: Features on Apple Watch Apps Explained
When the Apple Watch is released this April, it will come with a number of apps on board and other third party apps that can be downloaded from the App store. Unlike the hardware on the watch that has been reported on extensively, the apps that it will feature are relatively unknown and only a few have been revealed by Apple.
As for the ready-made apps the watch will come with in addition to its many watch faces, a major draw will be its Activity App which measures whether the user moves, exercises and stands. It then provides the output in three circles. Each circle will close at the end of the day if the user has completed his goal. Apple has high hopes for this app with CEO Tim Cook stating earlier this month that the watch will help cure the cancer of "sitting" by reminding the user to stand every hour.
In its "Complications" menu, the watch will have an alarm feature. Additionally, it will inform the user when the sun rises and sets and even include a stopwatch. These features, according to the company, can be launched from the watch face.
The app created for displaying maps on the Apple Watch will provide guidance and a route to get from one point to another once the device is paired with an iPhone. Users will also be able to send messages and view notifications when they arrive directly from the Apple Watch.
When it comes to photos, these, too, can be viewed on the watch which can also be used as a remote to control the camera on an iPhone and instruct it to take a picture. The Apple Watch will also be able to work as a remote control for an Apple TV.
Finally, much like other smartwatches, the Apple Watch will be able to display email notifications once these are received on a paired iPhone, pick up calls, check stocks, scores from sporting events and remind users when a meeting is coming up.
