The Apple Watch remains an unknown entity before its expected release in April this year when it is bound to face solid competition from other smartwatches in the market. One of the devices that pose a strong challenge is the Moto 360.

Design

The Moto 360 has a stainless steel watch face that is round and measures 46mm while the Apple Watch has a rectangular watch face that will come in a variety of materials including steel, aluminum and gold. Users will also be able to choose between 38mm and 42mm cases when customizing their Apple watch. They can also pick from a huge number of straps created from plastic, leather and metal. As for the Moto 360 people can choose from leather, black steel and champagne gold finished straps.

Display

The display on the Apple Watch, according to estimates, is much smaller than that on the Moto 360. However, the Apple Watch will come with a retina display which will possibly make it sharper than the display of the Moto 360, which has a resolution of 320 x 290 and a density of 205 pixels per inch. Current rumors of the Apple Watch's display indicate that its smaller version will have a 272-pixel-by-340 pixel display while the bigger unit will have a 312-pixel-by-390 pixel display.

Specs

Current rumors indicate that the Apple Watch will come with the Apple S1 chip, while Moto 360 has the TI OMAP 3 chipset coupled with 512MB of RAM along with 4GB of internal storage. The Moto 360 can also be paired with most devices running Android 4.3 or later while the Apple Watch can only be paired with an iPhone 5 or a later version.

Price

The Apple watch is expected to start selling at $349 and up to $5,000 for the gold version. The Moto 360 starts at $299 and goes up to $329.
