Apple has confirmed its annual Special Event to happen on Sept. 7 this year, and, aside from the iPhone 7, fans are expecting Apple to announce the updated version of the Apple Watch which they have dubbed the Apple Watch 2.

According to IT Pro, fans have been expecting the Apple Watch 2 to be announced together with the new iPhone for months. Along with the announcement for the Apple Watch 2, it is speculated that the company would also announce a new MacBook and iPad Mini 4. There are also speculations on the announcement of the iOS 10, macOS Sierra, and WatchOS3.

Speaking of the WatchOS3, Christian Daily reports that if an Apple Watch 2 is to happen, it will most likely run on this operating system. The OS was announced back in March during the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), and though no Apple Watch 2 was announced, users would have expected a brand new OS to run their smart watches.

Rumors have speculated that the Apple Watch 2 will come with new screen technology that won't be so hard on the device's battery. Earlier complaints of the Apple Watch have been about its short battery lifespan. It would be considered troublesome for some users to have to charge a watch every day, so having a more energy efficient Apple Watch would do a great deal for Apple.

The Apple Watch 2 is also reportedly going to be an independent device from the iPhone. The Apple Watch 2 is rumored to have its own GPS tracker, barometer, and 3G/4G chipset that will allow it to connect to other networks without the use of an iPhone.

The new tech on the Apple Watch 2 is also said to waterproof the device, and users are said to expect the new smart watch to be 20–40% thinner.

Will the Apple Watch 2 be announced this coming Sept 7? Only time will tell.
