Apple Watch 2 release date, specs news update: LTE technology may not happen on upcoming Apple Watch 2

The second generation Apple Watch has been a favorite subject of several rumors and speculations all over the Internet for many months now. Its upcoming development and release date have been surrounded by contradicting reports. Despite Apple's continued silence with regard to Apple Watch 2, people and critics did not stop sharing their thoughts about what to expect on the upcoming tech watch. Now, new reports have emerged suggesting that the next smart watch from the Cupertino-based company will not be carrying an LTE technology. This contradicts the previous rumors that the device will no longer be dependent to the iPhone smartphone.

If rumors prove to be true, it is going to be a disappointing wearable device for many Apple fans who are already expecting the Apple Watch 2 to have its own cellular capability. According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple has decided not to include the LTE technology on the next Apple Watch to make sure it wouldn't experience any battery issue.

"The source of the delay is that current cellular chips consume too much battery life, reducing the product's effectiveness and limiting user appeal," according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Nevertheless, the publication added that Apple executives did not totally rule out the possibility of the cellular feature to land on its tech watch. However, they made it clear that it is not going to happen on the next Apple Watch release. Apple is allegedly searching for a low-power cellular data chips they can use for future generation Apple Watches.

Meanwhile, according to Apple Insider, the company is already planning to make a big launching of its new iPhone 7 on Sept. 7. There are speculations circulating that Apple Watch 2 might also get unveiled at the event.

As of now, Apple has yet to confirm these reports. However, many people believe that it is only a matter of time before the company starts to give out details on the development and release date of Apple Watch 2.
