'Arrow' season 5 episode 14 spoilers: Three female villains head to Star City for revenge; EP hints more flashback scenes featuring recruits
A group of female villains wreaks havoc in Star City on the upcoming episode of The CW's "Arrow" season 5.
Titled "The Sin-Eater," next week's episode will see Team Arrow deal with a newly formed girl gang. According to the official synopsis, China White (guest star Kelly Hu), Cupid (guest star Amy Gumenick), and Liza Warner (guest star Rutina Wesley) break out of Iron Heights Penitentiary and travel to Star City for revenge. Oliver (Stephen Amell) takes action and attempts to bring the trio in, but during their fight, the ACU unexpectedly intervenes.
Things take a turn for the worse when he learns that they are there to actually arrest the Green Arrow for killing Detective Malone (Tyler Ritter). Elsewhere in the episode, Warner (Rutina Wesley) tells Lance (Paul Blackthorne) that she heard about him working with Damien Darhk. This leads Lance to feel responsible for the Iron Heights prison break.
Wednesday's hour saw a traumatic attack on City Hall that left Team Arrow divided over the issue of gun control. It also triggered painful memories for Rene (Rick Gonzalez), whose dark past was revealed through his own series of flashbacks. It was the first time that "Arrow" showed a flashback scene focusing on another character instead of Oliver. Speaking with TV Guide, executive producer Wendy Mericle revealed that the episode serves as a testing ground for when Oliver's flashbacks eventually run out.
"I think of it as more of a testing ground for the recruits and whether we'd be able to generate enough story and be interested in those stories from the perspectives of those characters. But yes, going forward, for sure, given that we won't have the Island to go to and the flashbacks for Oliver, knowing that we could use other characters and that we have a device that's well-established on the show and knowing we can go to that well if we need to," the EP said.
The fifth season of "Arrow" airs every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
