'Arrow' season 5 news: Team Arrow 2.0 introduced; Wild Dog to appear in 4-way crossover?

After the Team Arrow members scattered and went on with their lives in the previous season, Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) had no choice but to build another team from the ground up.

In the second episode of "Arrow" season 5, Oliver finally agreed to train a batch of newcomers and Team Arrow 2.0 was born. The new group includes Curtis (Echo Kellum), who has yet to reveal his Mister Terrific alter ego; Evelyn Sharp (Madison McLaughlin) or Artemis, who takes on the mantle of the Black Canary; and Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez) aka Wild Dog.

According to "Arrow" executive producer Marc Guggenheim, rebuilding Team Arrow is part of Oliver rethinking his legacy, especially in the wake of the events in season 4.

"To a certain extent, [legacy is] an element of every episode," Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly. "Sometimes that's really overt and in your face, and other times it's very subtle," he added.

Guggenheim also talked about the possibility of Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) becoming a superhero and joining Team Arrow. According to the "Arrow" boss, people have been asking him if the show will reveal Felicity taking on the Black Canary mantle after Laurel Lance's (Katie Cassidy) death.

"My answer is that I wouldn't make Felicity a masked superhero of any stripe," he said.

Meanwhile, it appears that Wild Dog, one of the new Team Arrow members, is going to appear in the upcoming four-way crossover featuring Arrow, Flash (Grant Gustin), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), and the Legends of Tomorrow.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Gonzalez confirmed his character's participation in the special event and explained how the street-level hero with no superpowers of his own deals with having to interact with enhanced individuals such as Supergirl and Flash.

"Wild Dog will be in the crossover, and he has a huge dislike for metahumans," the actor said, adding that the event creates an opportunity to learn about Wild Dog's thinking, ideas, and sentiments.

"Instead of saying 'Wow, these people can do these things,' he says, 'No, I don't like you because this is what you bring to the table. This is what you represent to me,'" he explained.
