Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) are probably not getting back together in the upcoming "Arrow" season 5.

In a recent interview with TV Line, "Arrow" showrunner Wendy Mericle said that unlike in the previous seasons, the relationship between Felicity and Oliver will not be the focus of the fifth season.

This is not because the show is adding another conflict to the pair's already complicated relationship or because Felicity and Oliver getting back together could signal that the show is about to reach its conclusion. Rather, Mericle said that the two will just be too busy with other things to give the relationship some much-needed attention.

"They're both in crisis mode," the "Arrow" boss said. "Oliver's got two really big jobs, and [Felicity] is spinning out about Havenrock. Until they've gotten some clarity for themselves, there's not much room for the relationship side of things," she added.

Apart from his role as the masked vigilante Green Arrow, Oliver will also be busy running Star City as its mayor and creating a new generation of Team Arrow members. In season 5, Oliver will also be dealing with the Bratva and a new villain known as Prometheus.

"He's very much the focus of the first nine [episodes]," Mericle said about Oliver/Green Arrow.

As for Felicity, she will be dealing with the fallout from the Havenrock situation. In "Arrow" season 4, the town of Havenrock was destroyed after Felicity hacked a nuclear missile to keep it from detonating in Star City and potentially killing millions of people. Instead, the bomb hit Havenrock and killed thousands of innocents.

Meanwhile, following her death in the previous season of "Arrow," Laurel Lance/Black Canary (Katie Cassidy) will reappear in the series and in the DC TV Universe.

"...[C]oming up, you will see me in the premiere of 'Arrow' season 5," the actress confirmed at last week's Salt Lake Comic Con. "And I will also be... across all three shows: 'Flash,' 'Legends,' and 'Arrow,' for this next year. So, I'm excited about that," she added.

"Arrow" season 5 debuts Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
