'Ash vs Evil Dead' season 2 episode 8 spoilers: Baal wants Ash to destroy the Necronomicon

Now that Baal (Joel Tobeck) has succeeded in breaking Ash (Bruce Campbell) down into a mindless puppet all set on destroying the Necronomicon, the real-world Pablo (Ray Santiago), Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) and Ruby (Lucy Lawless) are coming to his rescue in the next episode of "Ash vs Evil Dead."

After taking a weird trip down Baal's idea of a psychiatric ward, wherein he persistently tried to convince Ash that everything that happened in the last 30 years had all been in his mind, the episode titled "Ashy Slashy" brings the narrative back to the real world, where deadites exist and Ash's crew is looking for him.

But when Pablo, Kelly and Ruby make it to an abandoned asylum in search of Ash, they quickly find themselves at the wrong end of their chainsaw-wielding friend's mercy. It doesn't take Ruby long to realize what Baal has done and what the wants Ash to do, as shown in the episode preview. And Pablo also figures things out for himself just as Ash appears behind them.

Baal wants Ash to destroy the Necronomicon, which in context puts Pablo's life in danger because he has now become the book. It looks like Ruby's plan of expediting the transformation really did work for the better. But does this also mean they now have the spell they need to send Baal back to hell?

The official press release also mentions that Ash's crew will be encountering some of the crazy characters in the world Baal has created in his continuing attempt to break Ash completely. Do Pablo, Kelly and Ruby still have a chance of getting through to him, or has Ash already reached a point of no return?

What would become of Pablo now that he seems to have literally become the Necronomicon? Has this transformation given him the ability to defeat Baal, or does it only bring him closer to his death in Ash's hands? If it comes down to it, who will Ruby and Kelly choose to save, a mindless Ash who's under the influence of Baal, or Pablo who now holds the power of the Necronomicon?
