'Assassin's Creed 3' to be released for free as Ubisoft's 30th-anniversary gift
Ubisoft's final 30th-anniversary giveaway for PC players will bring back the critically acclaimed 2012 action-adventure game, "Assassin's Creed 3," this month.
Starting Wednesday, Dec. 7, members of the Ubisoft Club can download the game for free as part of the game studio's year-long giveaways to celebrate its 30 years in business.
"Assassin's Creed 3" centers on the adventures of Desmond Miles' half-English, half-Mohawk ancestor named Connor, who happens to be the son of the Grand Master of the Templar Order of the colonies. Connor was caught in the middle of the conflict between his Native American Village and the Templar Order during the American Revolution. It is also considered as the final game in Desmond Miles' plotline under the "Assassin's Creed" video game franchise.
While "Assassin's Creed 3" received mixed reviews from critics at the time of its release, the game managed to get multiple nominations during the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards, including the Best Xbox 360 Game, Best PS3 Game, Best Graphics, Best Action Adventure Game, the Character of the Year for lead character Connor, and the Game of the Year. It also won the Outstanding Achievement in Animation award from D.I.C.E. Interactive Achievement Awards back in 2013.
The game will be included in the roster of Ubisoft's free game releases for this year, including the "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" that was released in June, July's "Splinter Cell," the "Rayman Origins" that was offered for free in August, "The Crew" that came out in September, October's "Beyond Good & Evil," as well as the current "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" that was released by the game studio in November.
Members of Ubisoft Club will have 30 days to enjoy "Assassin's Creed 3" for free. But while waiting for the game, players can still enjoy "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" until the next free game's release next week.
