ASUS ZenFone 2 Release Date, Specs and Features: World's First 4GB RAM Smartphone
The ASUS ZenFone 2 was launched recently at CES 2015, and it immediately caught the attention of reporters at the show.
The smartphone is packed with a record-breaking 4GB of RAM. It is the first smartphone to have the same size of RAM as many current laptops have.
As for the other details about the ZenFone 2, ASUS said the phone comes with a 72 percent screen-to-body ratio, which means it has less area for bezels. Coming to its display, ZenFone 2 has a 5.5-inch IPS screen with a full HD resolution of 1080p and a pixel density of 403 pixels per inch. Its screen is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3.
The Zenfone 2 features a brushed metal finish on its curved back panel which tapers towards the outer edges, giving it a very slim profile.
The camera on the smartphone is a 13-megapixel PixelMaster. According to the company, the camera performs better in low light situations without any flash, and can take photos that are much brighter than previous models in the line. There is also an f/2.0 wide-aperture lens on the camera which allows it to easily snap high-resolution shots with almost no shutter lag. The Backlight (HDR) mode also allows for easy photographing of sunsets, by ensuring objects in the foreground stand out and are shadow-free.
Coming to its specs, the phone features a 64-bit Super quad-core Intel Atom Processor clocked at 2.3GHz along with 4GB RAM. It also comes with support for dual SIMs and has 4G LTE speeds of up to 150Mbit/s. As for its battery, it has a 3,000mAh version which comes bundled with fast-charging technology that allows the phone to get a 60 percent charge in about 39 minutes.
The phone with 2 GB of RAM version but with the same specs is expected to be released in March.
Finally coming to price, the 2 GB unlocked version of Zenfone 2 costs $199. The pricing for the 4GB version has not yet been announced.
