Asus ZenWatch 3 release date, specs news 2016: 3rd gen ZenWatch announced at IFA 2016
Asus has reportedly announced the third generation ZenWatch at the IFA 2016 trade show in Berlin. According to the report, the Taiwanese multinational computer hardware and electronics company will soon launch the new wearable device with a new stylish design.
According to a report by CNet, the highly anticipated tech watch will come out in various markets across the world including U.S. and the U.K. sometime next month. The device will be available for $250 USD or 229 euros.
The ZenWatch 3 will carry a 1.39-inch screen with a 400 x 400 AMOLED display resolution. The screen is also protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass. The bezel of the smartwatch also has a gold trip and the round edges of the ZenWatch 3 are made from a solid 316L jewelry-grade stainless steel.
In a report by Engadget, the new Asus ZenWatch 3 will run on a Snapdragon 2100 Wear processor from Qualcomm, which is said to help the device perform better than its predecessor. The powerful processor is paired with 512 MB of RAM and an internal storage capacity of 4 GB. The new tech watch also has a fast charging feature, which the company calls "HyperCharge." There are rumors circulating that a 15-minute charge will give the device 60 % more battery power, which is already good for 1 day of use.
Meanwhile, according to PhoneArena, the Asus ZenWatch 3 will come out in three color variations – Silver, Rose Gold and Gunmetal. All three variants also come with a rose-gold bezel. Just like most Android Wear watches, the ZenWatch 3 comes with a waterproofing feature with a water resistance rating of IP67.
The new entry from Asus in the smartwatch market is expected to go head to head with Samsung's Gear S3 and the rumored Apple Watch 2.
