The Asus ZenWatch is considered one of the best smartwatches in the market, while the Microsoft Band is well known in the realm of fitness trackers. However, in a market where customers are looking for cheaper devices with better features, the Microsoft Band is also emerging as a full-fledged challenger to the Asus ZenWatch and other smartwatches.

Design

When it comes to design, there is little to compare as the two devices look and feel different. The ZenWatch has a rectangular body made from stainless steel with a silver polish and a rose gold layer around its rim. As for its strap, its default version is made from brown leather but it can be exchanged for any standard 22mm strap. The Microsoft Band also has a rectangular body but it is longer and is made entirely from thermoplastic elastomer except for its display. As for the devices' dust and water resistance capabilities, both can only withstand splashes of water. The ZenWatch has an IP55 rating while the Microsoft Band has a better IP67 rating although the company said it cannot be immersed in water.

Display

On the ZenWatch is an AMOLED touch display measuring 1.63 inches with a resolution of 320x320 pixels and a density of 278 pixels per inch, while the Band has a TFT touch display measuring 1.4 inches with a resolution of 320 X 106 pixels.

Specs

The ZenWatch is better off when it comes to specs since it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with 4GB of internal storage and 512MB RAM. As for the Band, it has an ARM Cortex M4 MCU along with 64MB of internal storage. However, the devices are completely different in terms of their operating systems, as the ZenWatch runs on Android Wear and can only be paired with Android devices. The Band can be paired with Android, iOS and Windows devices.

Sensors and Battery Life

The ZenWatch comes with a nine-axis bio sensor and heart rate sensor and can last for a day on a single charge. As for the Microsoft Band, it has a three-axis accelerometer, gyrometer, GPS, heart rate sensor and skin temperature sensor.

Price

The Microsoft Band and the Asus ZenWatch have a similar price tag of $200.
