'Attack on Titan' season 2 news: First official trailer shows Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and the rest of the soldiers slaying Titans
"Attack on Titan" returns in just a few months, and a new trailer for the much-anticipated second season has finally arrived.
The clip begins with a familiar scene: A number of Titans about to attack the humans. "Today marks the new darkest day in humanity's history," the background voice in the teaser declares, while the military tries to control the brutal onslaught. The video goes on to feature beloved characters Eren, Mikasa, Armin, along with the rest of the humans, as they use their weapons to kill beast after beast.
New Titans could also be seen in the trailer, including one huge furry humanoid monster who is seen throwing a horse directly towards a member of the Survey Corps. Although these Titans are new to viewers, manga fans will certainly have an idea on who these new creatures are. Meanwhile, the Armored Titan and the Colossus Titan are also seen looking as deadly as ever. At some point in the teaser, Eren appears to shift into his Titan form as he battles it out against the former Abnormal Titan.
Earlier this year, Funimation founder and CEO Gen Fukunaga released a press statement about the upcoming season of the hit anime franchise. "Attack on Titan became an instant hit since it first streamed in 2013 and we are thrilled to bring fans the long-awaited Season 2 of the series," said Fukunaga. "Attack on Titan is truly a worldwide phenomenon that has continued to grow at a non-stop pace. Fans can look forward to an exciting second season," he went on to say.
Since the anime's first season aired, "Attack on Titan" has become a worldwide hit. While waiting for the second season, "Attack on Titan" has been busy expanding its title into a full-on franchise. From being a manga series, it has been adapted into several light novels and even into live-action movies.
The second season of "Attack on Titan" will premiere in April 2017.
