After a long wait, Funimation has finally announced a release date for "Attack on Titan" season 2.

Initially scheduled for a spring release, the hit anime series' second season is set to premiere on Saturday, April 1. The announcement from Funimation came with the official synopsis for season 2 that reads: "Eren Jaeger swore to wipe out every last Titan, but in a battle for his life he wound up becoming the thing he hates most. With his new powers, he fights for humanity's freedom facing the monsters that threaten his home. After a bittersweet victory against the Female Titan, Eren finds no time to rest — a horde of Titans is approaching Wall Rose and the battle for humanity continues!"

Season 1 wrapped up in 2013, and since it's debut, the show has become quite popular worldwide. It's success spawned a number of video games along with a spinoff anime series titled "Attack on Titan Junior High."

Last year, the season 2 trailer already gave away some clues on how the story will play out. The clip offers a glimpse of several new Titans that are to be introduced, including the menacing Beast Titan. Main characters Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert are back in action, and it seems that they'll be facing more monsters after the first wall has been breached.

Just in time for the show's upcoming installment, Japanese watch company Seiko recently unveiled its second line of "Attack on Titan"  collaboration wristwatches. The company will be accepting pre-orders for its second line of watches inspired by the show, and the new models are inspired by characters Levi and Mikasa. The limited edition watches are scheduled for a March 10 release in Japan, and fans can pre-order at any WIRED outlet starting tomorrow, Feb. 9. The Levi Signature Model costs ¥25,000 (about $223), while the Mikasa Signature Model is priced at ¥24,000 (about $214).

The first season of "Attack on Titan" is currently available for streaming via Funimation, Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu.
