'Attack on Titan' season 2 news: Premiere script revealed by series creator; Beast Titan to be introduced
"Attack on Titan" returns from its long hiatus this year, and a new photo of the second season's premiere script has been revealed.
The show's official Instagram handle recently unveiled an image of series creator Hajime Isayama holding what appears to be a script for the anime series' hotly-anticipated sophomore run. According to reports, the translated caption for the photo writes that Isayama dropped by the studio to check up on the production's progress. However, fans are more interested to know about the script.
While the said picture doesn't give away anything from the upcoming installment, it does give a hint on when a major character will arrive. The script shows a sketch of the Beast Titan on it, and manga readers will certainly be glad to see him make his anime debut. Aside from the Colossus Titan, the Beast Titan is one of the most popular characters in the franchise. He is expected to play an important role in the "Clash of Titans" arc which will be covered by season 2.
In the "Clash of Titans" saga, the show will resolve the mystery behind the Armored and Colossal Titans. Another monstrous creature from the 104th Training Corps is also expected to be introduced. As the title suggests, the said story arc will feature the most significant plot point in the entire season: the battle between the Armored Titan and the Rogue Titan. The fight is believed to eventually end on a rescue mission that would see action-packed moments, as well as Eren's reunion with the titan that killed his mother.
There are speculations that season 2 will also cover the "Uprising" arc which contains 20 chapters. The arc introduces a new heir to the throne and explores the beginning of the Survey Corps' new expedition, leading many fans to speculate that it will also mark the franchise's end.
The second season of "Attack on Titan" will premiere in April 2017.
