'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date, spoilers news: Next 2 manga story arcs enough source material for new season?
"Attack on Titan" season 2 won't premiere until next year, but the reports continue to inundate the web with regards to the plot of the new season.
According to the latest rumors, the anime will not follow the manga by Hajime Isayama. The show will reportedly deviate from the story, which is a move that fans might not be happy about.
Majority of followers of "Attack on Titan," if not all, hope to see the source material translated word for word to the small screen. This is what the anime has done in the previous season.
With that said, it will certainly be a surprise to fans if "Attack on Titan" season 2 did not follow the manga. Moreover, it is a move that might invite backlash.
Previous reports suggested that the anime will simply pick up where it left off. The first season covered the first four story arcs from the manga.
These story arcs include the "Fall of Shiganshina," "104th Training Corps," "Battle of Trost District," and "The Female Titan." It is also expected that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will cover another four story arcs.
However, at the moment, there are only three story arcs available. "Attack on Titan" season 2 will likely start with the "Clash of the Titans" arc.
There's no word about new printed material for the fourth story arc, but if Wit Studio will follow the anime, it might wait for its release first.
It is important to note that the first season covered 36 chapters from the manga. "Clash of the Titans" and the "Uprising" arc alone collectively have 36 chapters, which may be enough for "Attack on Titan" season 2.
It is expected that the new season will delve into the mythology and origins of the Titans, and will reveal more Titan Shifters. Fans can also look forward to battles between Titans in the new season.
With regards to the release date, "Attack on Titan" season 2 is slated for 2017.
