A shocking comment from "Avengers" director Joss Whedon left fans craving for more.

In a recent interview, Whedon was asked what fans can expect to see in the "Avengers: Age of Ultron," which is set to premiere in May 2015, to which the director answered with, "Death, death and death."

Whedon's reply triggered much speculation; Entertainment website MoviePilot hinted that Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, could be the one to go based on the promotional photos that show a crack in Captain America's shield.

Another speculation is that Bruce Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo, could be bidding his farewell after his alter-ego, the Hulk, goes against Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr. The website also pointed out that Ultron's (played by James Spader) attack could lead to the demise of Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johanssen.

Whedon's "death" comment could also relate to Thanos's obsession with "Mistress Death," according to MoviePilot. Whedon revealed in the past that Thanos is set to appear in one of the "Avengers" movies.

Website Comic Book Movie, meanwhile, is speculating that Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye and Nick Fury could possibly be removed from future "Avengers" movies.

Latino Review, on the other hand, posted that the sequel will pick up after the mid-credits tag from "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," with the Avengers targeting the Hydra outpost headed by Baron von Strucker together with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is already in post-production, with the actual filming wrapping up in August. Fans believe that the official movie trailer will be released sometime in November, and that the Blu-ray and DVD release of "Guardians of the Galaxy" will be featuring an exclusive preview of the "Avengers 2."

Marvels' "Avengers" follows a team of superheroes who come together to stop enemies from destroying the planet. In the first installment, the ragtag team had to stop Thor's brother, Loki, and his alien team from enslaving humanity.
