'Avengers: Infinity War' release date, news and updates: Hawkeye confirmed for the movie; will affect 'Mission Impossible 6'
2018 will see the arrival of "Avengers: Infinity War," and it's said to be the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since "Iron Man" debuted back in 2008. Jeremy Renner, the actor behind Clint Barton talks about his role in "Infinity War" and how it could affect his work on another box-office hit franchise, "Mission Impossible."
In an interview with Collider, Renner talks about being a part of both films and where he stands on his work with Christopher McQuarrie's sixth installment of "Mission Impossible."
He says, ""I know that they're really wanting to get ["Mission Impossible 6"] going, and I haven't spoken to Tom [Cruise] about ultimately where it's at. I know that there might be some conflict with schedules, so I'm not sure what's going to happen. 'Avengers' is going to eat up a lot of next year  — gladly, but I certainly hope that won't get in the way of Tom and I and the gang getting back together, because I'd love to."
The last "Mission Impossible" movie, "Rogue Nation," didn't really feature Renner in a relevant action role like it did in the previous movie, "Ghost Protocol." Reports are saying that the actor wasn't pleased with his role in the latest film, and that it could be considered as a glorified cameo.
The same report also said that Renner was already being prepped to helm the franchise at some point, but plans seemed to change after Tom Cruise decided to stay on as the lead.
Hawkeye seemingly retired at the end of "Avengers: Age of Ultron," but he was brought back to action in "Captain America: Civil War." There's no clue on the relevance of his role in "Infinity War" as of late, but it is confirmed that Marvel's skilled super-archer will be making an appearance.
"The Avengers: Infinity War" comes out in May 4, 2018.
