'Bates Motel' season 5 spoilers: Norman's downward spiral continues
Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga) is already dead, but her son Norman (Freddie Highmore) seems to be keeping her legacy alive in the fifth season of "Bates Motel" in A&E.
The network released a new trailer for the show's fifth and final season, in which viewers will find out what happened to Norman's life after the death of his mother.
The Bates household is noticeably messier based on the new trailer, but it seems like Norman is still keeping more than her memories alive at home.
Rosemary Clooney's 1950s hit "Come On-A My House" can be heard playing all over the Bates household, but Norman can be found spending some time in the basement while fixing a pair of dove figurine. Then he brought the dove display to another room when he heard his mother calling him for dinner. After he left the room, Norma's frozen body was seen sitting on a throne.
Slash Film posted the synopsis for the fifth and final season, which will reportedly pick up two years after the events of season 4.
Norman is reportedly living a happy life as a member of the White Pine Bay community, but he is also silently struggling with his violent blackouts whenever he believes that his mother Norma threatens to take over his thoughts.
His half-brother Dylan (Max Thierot) and Emma (Olivia Cooke) will be living at peace outside White Pine Bay without knowing that Norma is already dead. But the couple will soon find themselves drawn back to the town due to Norman's unstable mental condition. Norma's husband Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell), on the other hand, will do everything to make Norman pay for killing her.
The new season of "Bates Motel" will also introduce new characters like the charming but mysterious newcomer named Sam Loomis, who will be portrayed by "The Walking Dead" alum Austin Nichols. R&B superstar Rihanna will also portray the iconic role of Marion Crane in the TV series.
A&E will air the premiere episode of "Bates Motel" season 5 on Monday, Feb. 20.
