'Batman: Arkham Knight' Release Date News: Game Set for June 2 Worldwide
The official Batman Arkham Knight site has announced that the worldwide release of the much-awaited game is on June 2, 2015.
"Batman: Arkham Knight" is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Rocksteady Studios and released by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One video game consoles, and Microsoft Windows.
The game is based on DC Comics superhero Batman and is the successor to Warner Bros. Games Montreal's 2013 video game "Batman: Arkham Origins" and the fourth and final game in the Batman: Arkham series.
The game's storyline is set one year after the events of the 2011 "Batman:Arkham City" and follows Batman, as he confronts the Scarecrow, who returned to Gotham City to unite Batman's enemies in a plot to finally kill the Dark Knight.
Who and what exactly is the Arkham Knight? Gaz Deaver, Rocksteady Studios social marketing manager, said this to GamingBolt: "One of the most interesting themes in Batman stories is the idea of escalation: As Batman improves his abilities and gadgets to fight crime, his enemies have to improve and adapt in order to stay competitive. In response to this, Batman trains harder to become even more powerful, which creates this constant escalation between Batman and the supervillains."
"The Arkham Knight is the apex of that escalation: He's broken the old rules of engagement and raises the stakes through the roof by bringing a full occupying army into Gotham. He's an expert tactician who understands how dangerous Batman can be, and he knows that he'll have to exploit all of Batman's weaknesses to beat him. Even the design of the Arkham Knight's helmet is a taunt aimed at Batman – a psychological weapon to provoke a reaction and prey on Batman's fears," Deaver added.
New or improved gadgets and other updates in the game have been leaked online. The Batmobile, for instance, would be one of the most important aspects of Batman's arsenal, with improved modes to assist Batman in his crusade against crime.
There are also teasers of additional gadgets to Batman's utility belt, and some specific references to Batman's improved ability to fight.
