'Batman: Arkham VR' release date and news: New footage of the game revealed
"Batman" games have been at an all-time high ever since the release of "Batman: Arkham Asylum." Virtual reality (VR) enthusiasts would also be happy to hear that a VR "Arkham" game is in the works and it's set for release on Oct. 11. New gameplay footage has been released for the game and it gives players the experience of being Batman walking around his Bat Cave.
The clip basically takes the player around the Caped Crusader's base of operations. Players can mess around with Batman's forensic desk and use high-end technology to find clues and evidence. The cave also has a log of all the different villains that Batman has, as well as some of their weapons, like Scarecrow's glove.
Fans can also traverse Batman's wide arsenal of vehicles as the game gives players access to the Bat Wing and the Batmobile. Batman also has his own Batsignal in the cave.
Characters like Alfred and Robin are also part of the game. "Queen Industries" is also namedropped by Alfred. Perhaps this is a possible allusion to Oliver Queen aka The Green Arrow?
"Arkham VR" will reportedly have about three hours of gameplay if players were to finish 100 percent of the game. As for the main story, it would last for 60 minutes, according to Press Start's interview with Rocksteady Studios brand marketing producer Dax Ginn.
Some fans are disappointed to hear about the short length of the game, but a sequel is sure to have more content if the first one proves to be successful. It would also be quite tricky to have a VR Batman edition, what with all the rooftop climbing and walking around that Batman has to do.
"Arkham VR" is said to cost $20, and it will be released this coming Oct. 11.
