Batman v Superman Movie Release Date, Plot News: Aquaman to Feature in Film
Jason Momoa could bring Aquaman to the big screen in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" long before the standalone film for the character drops. This was hinted by Zack Snyder, the director of the movie who tweeted an image of Momoa in his Aquaman costume.
The image which featured Momoa wearing his fearsome scowl and a grey costume inspired by fish scales caught the internet unawares when Snyder released it. However it soon caught everyone's attention and imagination on the internet where a trailer for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" has been rumored for months.
Additionally, there were very little remnants of Aquaman's green and yellow custom seen in the image and instead Momoa had a black, gold and grey outfit along with his trusty trident.
Last year during the filming of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" it was rumored that Aquaman was going to be in the movie. Cinemablend states that recently news has emerged that Aquaman's role in the film would be nothing more than a cameo. However, it would be a build up to the standalone film based on the character, which is due to release in July 2018.
As for Aquaman's role in the upcoming film focused on Batman and Superman he will first be mentioned by Lex Luthor and described as a metahuman. Then he will be seen briefly at the ending when he is recruited by Batman to become part of the Justice League. This limited screen time to Aquaman in the upcoming film is mainly because the principle characters of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman dominate much of the plot.
However, in the Justice League movies that are due to release in 2017 and 2019, Aquaman could play an important role. Snyder also hinted that Aquaman would "Unite the seven" which could mean that the character would play a vital part in the creation of the Justice league and could be one of the heroes who found the league.
