'Battleborn' DLC news, details and updates: 2K and Gearbox unveil new DLC and character
As promised, 2K Games continues to support its online first-person shooter game, "Battleborn" despite its underwhelming reviews. After the first downloadable content (DLC) expansion titled "Attikus and the Thrall Rebellion," which was released last October, the second DLC titled "Toby's Friendship Raid" was also released just last Saturday, Nov. 12.
The new DLC tasks players to recover Toby's stolen "death-dealing mech suit." In a press release, 2K and developer Gearbox explained that "This all-new story operation lets players fight their way through LLC manufacturing facilities' deadly traps and enemies to earn new skins, taunts, and chances to unlock Faction Commander Packs while pursuing their mission to restore Toby's mech suit to its rightful owner."
Aside from the new DLC, a new character named Beatrix is also unveiled and described as "A former scientist, Beatrix has a fondness, if not obsession with hygiene, precision and manipulating living creatures by injecting them with lethal debuffs and disease from her prosthetic syringe-arm."
Beatrix will not be playable until the next couple of months, and she will be available in-game for 47,500 credits, which can be unlocked through a hero key that is included in the game's season pass.
Gearbox also noted that they are planning to roll out a new story mode titled "Oscar Mike vs. Battle School," but no further details have been laid out as of the moment.
More DLCs are still coming for "Battleborn," and Gearbox announced that there will be three more of them, plus a free competitive multiplayer mode that will be unveiled soon.
The newly released "Toby's Friendship Raid" is readily available for season pass owners, but it can be purchased separately in-game for 700 Platinums, and it can also be bought for $4.99.
In other news, the "Battleborn" day already commenced last Nov. 12 in which players get double XP and credits, a special playlist of fan-favorite maps and 20% off on skins.
