There have been reports that a new "Batman" solo film featuring Ben Affleck is set to debut in 2018, but it might push the upcoming "Justice League" to a later premiere date. Meanwhile, Affleck expressed his enthusiasm for his character's new solo film.

The news of a solo "Batman" film, which featured Affleck as the night vigilante, first came out when former President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production of Warner Bros. shared the studios' lineup of projects in an interview with Deadline.

Silverman started off enumerating movies such as "Batman Lego," "Wonder Woman," "King Kong," and several others that are currently in production and development.

Silverman then said: "Then in 2018, there is a second 'Fantastic Beasts' film, and 'Ready Player One' feels like an ambitious movie by the world's best filmmaker, Steven Spielberg, that will set the world on fire. There is 'Aquaman' with James Wan, and 'Scooby Doo' will be a huge launch and then there is 'Lego Ninjago.' And then there is Ben Affleck's 'Batman.'"

But days before this interview, Affleck shared with The New York Times that he is not in a hurry to make a new "Batman" solo movie.

"We still have to get a screenplay and get it together. I'm a real believer in not reverse engineering projects to meet a window or a date, but rather when you get the right story, the right idea, the right thing, then you make the movie," Affleck explained.

Aside from starring in the titular role, Affleck will also be writing and directing the said film.

However, in an interview with Variety, Affleck has shared that they are on the right track and that "everything is coming together." Although the actor added that they are still working on the script, he said that he is very excited for the film and that a 2018 premiere date could possibly push through.

With the unexpected inclusion of a "Batman" film in the 2018 lineup, Slashfilm reports that the "Justice League" film might be pushed to a later date because of conflicts in schedule.

Ben Affleck's "Batman" is expected to premiere sometime in 2018.
