'Better Call Saul' season 3 news: Aaron Paul drops hints about 'Breaking Bad' character Jesse Pinkman's appearance
Another major "Breaking Bad" character may be crossing over to AMC's spinoff drama "Better Call Saul."
Since Vince Gilligan's prequel series debuted in 2015, fans have been hoping to see more "Breaking Bad" characters appear on the show. Three-time Emmy winner Aaron Paul recently caught up with Ellen DeGeneres to promote his Hulu drama "The Path." In a footage from Tuesday's show, DeGeneres asked Paul if his "Breaking Bad" character will appear in the Bob Odenkirk-led spinoff.
"God, I hope so," he told the daytime TV host. "Maybe I already shot it. We just -- or they just -- wrapped the [most recent] season."
While Paul could just be messing with the fans, there's also a possibility that he intentionally screwed up and revealed his appearance on the drama. TV Guide points out that if he will appear in the prequel's upcoming third season, Jesse's arrival probably takes place years after Walter White (Bryan Cranston) meets Saul Goodman, who is also known as Jimmy McGill (Odenkirk). It's unlikely that he would appear in the main timeline, so Jesse could be introduced in the present day where Jimmy/Saul is already working as a manager of a Cinnabon store.
Earlier this month, Giancarlo Esposito confirmed that he'll be reprising his "Breaking Bad" role as Gus Fring on the show. The actor personally announced his return as the meth supplier/fast-food joint owner during the TCA winter press tour. Speaking to reporters, he teased that a different side of his character will be seen in the program.
"We are at a time when he is a little more immature," Esposito said. "He's still finding his way. Gus is a very cagey character," the actor added.
Other "Breaking Bad" characters who have appeared on the show include Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), Tuco Salamanca (Raymond Cruz), Hector "TÃo" Salamanca (Mark Margolis as), and Krazy-8 (Maximino Arciniega).
The third season of "Better Call Saul" premieres on Monday, April 10, at 10 p.m. ET on AMC.
